Our lab specializes in discovering novel agents that can be developed for drug leads and understanding how biological drug targets work and interact with these agents.

  • Triple congratulations to Alvin. He graduated (BS in Biology), got accepted to the Fisch College of Pharmacy, and won the ACS Bridge Award!!

  • Dr. Abdelaziz receives The Research Publication Grant from American Association of University Women to fund our project: "Optimization of Kinase Expression in E. coli".
  • Triple congratulations to Antonio Gomez for earning his PharmD degree, winning the Steve Coleman Leadership Award, and First place in the UT Tyler Lyceum Graduate Student Poster Award!! 
  • Our lab received the first R21 Award in UT Tyler from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID/NIH)! The project will study the clinically isolated mutations of the bacterial sensor histidine kinase VraS and their effect on the enzyme catalytic functions, affinity to ATP, receptor dimerization, and interaction with its response regulator VraR. GO TEAM!

Recent News

  • Our lab received a new R15 Award from the National Cancer Institute! The project will characterize novel inhibitors that target HER2 kinase, a clinically validated target in breast cancer. GO TEAM!
